What it is
This unit is supplied as item code RJD, in All aluminium construction, finished with Powder-coated or anodized finish, standard colour RAL9010, RAL9016 or RAL9003, as per customer request.. A diffuser is where the air leaves the system and, in practice, where most complaints about an HVAC system actually begin. The duct can be perfectly balanced and the diffuser can still produce a draught on the back of a neck or a whistling noise at a desk. What a diffuser does is turn a fast, directional jet from the duct into a slow, spreading, entraining flow that mixes with the room air before it reaches the occupant.
The range covers the geometries that cover the room types: square and round panel diffusers for a ceiling, ring jet diffusers for a high-sidewall or a large open volume, plastic air grilles and vents for service openings and bathrooms, and ABS plastic ceiling diffusers for the residential and light commercial market where the fitting has to be light, cheap and white.
Neck size, blade damper and facing are the three things that decide whether a diffuser fits and behaves. The neck matches the duct or the flexible duct that feeds it; the damper sets the volume without a separate regulator; the facing is the part the occupant sees, so it is also the part the architect has an opinion about.

How to choose the right one
- Size the diffuser neck to what feeds it, not to the room. A neck that does not match the duct means a transition at the last metre, which is exactly where the pressure drop and the noise appear.
- Match the throw and the drop to the ceiling height. A diffuser that throws too far in a low ceiling puts cold air on occupants; one that throws too short leaves a stagnant core in the middle of the room.
- For a large open volume or a high sidewall, a ring jet diffuser gives the long throw and the induction needed instead of a ceiling panel.
- Choose the material from the room. Extruded aluminium for a visible commercial ceiling; ABS plastic for residential and light commercial where weight and price matter more.
- Take the damper option where commissioning has to set the volume at the terminal rather than at the fan — an opposite blade damper and a slide-type volume control are the two common answers and they suit different duct connections.
Material and finish options
| Material | Finish | Typical use |
|---|
| Extruded aluminium | RAL9010 / 9016 / 9003, or customer RAL | Commercial ceilings, visible faces |
| All aluminium construction | Powder coated or anodised | General commercial supply and extract |
| Aluminium | Anodised or powder coated | Wet areas and a specified look |
| ABS + PP plastic | White, black or custom | Residential, light commercial, bathrooms |
| All aluminium ring jet | Powder coated or anodised | High sidewalls, large volumes |
Installation
- 1
Connect to the duct or the flexible duct with the transition the neck size calls for, and pull the flexible duct back so it does not compress into the neck.
- 2
Set the blade damper to the position the commissioning figure gives before closing the ceiling — adjusting it afterwards means opening the ceiling.
- 3
Fix the face flush to the ceiling or the soffit line, and check the gap around the trim with a level; a tilted face is the first thing anyone notices above a dropped ceiling.
- 4
Fit the neck adapter or the opposite blade damper where the product lists it as an accessory, in the orientation the airflow direction requires.
- 5
Commission the terminal to the design volume and record it, so the diffuser position that produces draughts can be distinguished from one that simply was never set.

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the diffuser size?
From the airflow and the throw you need at that ceiling height, with the neck matching what feeds it. Send the airflow, the ceiling height and the room dimension and we will confirm the size rather than guess.
What is the difference between CD-SA, CD-RA and CD-RB?
They are the square and round panel diffuser geometries in the aluminium range, with different neck and blade arrangements. The size and the damper option decide which one fits; send the neck size and we will confirm the model.
Do I need the damper as an accessory?
If commissioning is done at the terminal, yes — an opposite blade damper or a slide-type volume control lets the volume be set without going back to the fan. If the system is balanced at the fan, the plain face is enough.
Can I get a non-standard colour?
Yes, powder coating to a customer RAL is available on the aluminium types. Send the RAL reference and the quantity.
Are plastic diffusers suitable for commercial ceilings?
They suit residential and light commercial work, and secondary bedrooms and corridors. For a principal commercial face where the flatness and the finish matter, extruded aluminium is the better specification.
What is the standard neck size?
The neck is made to the duct or flexible duct diameter you connect to. Tell us the neck diameter and the connection type and we will confirm the model.
