Wall thickness / gauge
2.0MM

Suitable for M10 threaded rods
What it is
This unit is supplied as item code VDH, in Galvanized steel / 2.0MM. A duct hanger carries the weight of a horizontal duct run and keeps it at the alignment the design gave. The L, Z and V shapes cover the three ways a hanger has to work in a ceiling: the L holds a single duct from one side, the Z steps around an obstruction or over a parallel run, and the V sits under the duct and carries it from two points when the run is wide or the load is heavy.
They are pressed from galvanized steel at 2.0–2.5 mm and are sized to work with M10 threaded rod, which is the rod size most ductwork specifications call for. The shape is what matters on site: the wrong profile forces the installer to fabricate a hanger on site, and a fabricated hanger is a hanger that does not match the load calculation.
Getting the hanger right is what stops the two failure modes that show up in year two — a hanger that has stretched, and a hanger that has been over-tightened and has dented the duct wall. Both come from selecting on the wrong basis.

How to choose the right one
- Take the hanger from the duct weight and the hanger spacing, not from the duct size. A wide low-pressure duct is heavy even on thin sheet, and that weight decides the section.
- Choose the profile from the obstacles: L where the run is clear, Z where it has to step over or around an existing service, V where the duct is wide enough that two suspension points are needed.
- Confirm the threaded rod size — these holders are made for M10 rod, so if your specification uses M8 the sections differ.
- Specify stainless where the hanger sits in a corrosive atmosphere; galvanized is the normal indoor choice.
Material and finish options
| Material | Finish | Typical use |
|---|
| Galvanized steel 2.0–2.5 mm | Zinc plating | Internal ductwork hangers |
| Stainless steel 304 on request | Mill finish | Wet plant rooms, coastal, food plant |
Installation
- 1
Fix the threaded rod into the slab or the steel with the insert the specification gives, and set the rod length to the finished duct soffit.
- 2
Fit the hanger onto the rod with the nut below the head so the hanger can be lowered into position rather than lifted into it.
- 3
Place the duct on the hanger and fit the second nut or the V cradle under the duct so the load is carried, not held by friction.
- 4
Set the duct line and level, then lock both nuts. Do not crank the hanger tight against the duct wall — the sheet dents and the duct loses its stiffness at that point.
- 5
Check the hangers after the duct has been walked on and after the first commissioning run; a hanger that was set to the design load before the insulation went on will need a re-set.

Frequently asked questions
Which shape do I need for my run?
L for a clear single-point hang, Z where the run has to step over another service, V for wide ducts that need two suspension points. Send a simple sketch and the hanger spacing and we will confirm the profile.
Do they fit M10 rod as standard?
Yes, the standard range is made for M10 threaded rod. Other rod sizes are produced to order — tell us the rod diameter when you enquire.
How do I size the hanger to the duct?
From the loaded weight of the duct, including insulation, at the hanger spacing in your specification. Give us the duct size, the gauge, the insulation and the spacing and we will confirm the section.
Can I get stainless hangers?
Yes. The geometry is unchanged, so the profile and the fixing points are the same — only the material and lead time differ.
